At CU Phosco we are incredibly proud to support Recycle Week 2024 with its theme of ‘Rescue Me’
As a business, we focus on giving a second life to materials that would otherwise end up in landfill, which is why we have made not only a commitment to make our products as recyclable as they can be, but also to circularity.
Packaging
We work closely with our suppliers to choose packaging that can be reused. This not only reduces waste but also ensures that the materials used in our products have a second life. On top of this, our 100% recycled heavy-duty cardboard pallet boxes are suitable for multi-use product shipments, so can be flat packed and returned for re-use or recycling.
For bulk outward orders, we use recycled wooden pallets including the reuse of incoming raw material pallets whenever possible. Even our bubble bags are specified to protect incoming castings and are specifically sized to allow re-use on assembled lanterns. They are made from a minimum of 40% recycled plastic, reducing our plastic footprint.
Sustainable materials
All of our cardboard is made from 100% recycled material, our LED boards also come in PET trays that are sent for recycling.
At CU Phosco, we will always prioritise materials that can be given a new purpose.
Recycling
When utilising a lot of packaging for the variety of different components we use in our luminaires, recycling is high on the list of our priorities. We have dedicated bins on the shop floor for plastic cups, bottles, drinks cans, and paper, ensuring they are all sent for recycling. We responsibly manage WEEE items, ensuring they are properly processed. Old light bulbs, lamps, and tubes are segregated and sent to specialist bins for eco-friendly processing.
All general waste which can’t be recycled goes to an energy from waste plant, contributing to a greener future with zero landfill waste. On top of this, when incoming pallets are damaged beyond economical repair or single use is inevitable, these are held in a dedicated wood recycling skip and sent for the manufacture of particle chip board.
We ask all businesses in our industry to join us on this journey, as we continue to explore new, innovative ways to make our processes and products, greener.
Let’s act now, rescue what we can, and continue to make sustainability a top priority.
